Imbue is a tea infusing vessel designed to simplify the process of brewing loose leaf tea. Typically brewing tea takes several steps, is messy, and does not travel well. Whether you prefer your tea hot or cold, Imbue allows you to effortlessly steep leaves at home or on the go. The result is great tasting single serving loose leaf tea anywhere. It also makes a great water bottle after the tea is gone! Our fans keep Imbue throughout the day as a multi-use vessel.
Pour in your favorite blend of loose leaf tea. Attach the strainer to the Oak lid. Flip and let your tea steep for the desired amount of time.
The container is constructed from shatter resistant borosilicate glass that works as an effective insulator, keeping your beverage hot and your hand cool. The lid is made from Oak and has a powerful neodymium magnetic ring embedded in it to attract the stainless steel filter that holds the tea and is covered by a permanent food safe silicon gasket that is leak proof. This feature makes the interface between the Imbue lid, filter, and draining dish effortless. The removable sleeve is made from a natural insulated fabric with a no slip neoprene interior lining for maximum grip.
Imbue is ideal for making great tasting loose leaf tea. This type of tea is the highest quality available at grocery and tea stores. Teabags work with Imbue but are usually made from the opposite – low tea grades, such as dust and fannings. Dust and fannings are smaller pieces of tea, so they have a larger surface area than whole leaves. A larger surface area means more opportunities for the essential oils (what makes tea flavorful and aromatic) to evaporate, leaving the tea dull and stale. With our system you can steep tea so it it has room for tea leaves to absorb water and expand as they infuse for a controlled amount of time. People have gotten creative with Imbue by adding herbs, mixing loose blends, and even using tea bags!
The Imbue Tea Vessel was developed by students while enrolled in the Industrial Design program at Western Washington University. WWU is recognized as one of the premier design colleges in the U.S. and encourages its students to apply their skills in the development of innovative products. Our group conceptualized, prototyped, and marketed Imbue over the past year. The joint effort from a multidisciplinary group with skills in design, engineering, graphics, and user experience have helped Imbue become realized.
Our Kickstarter campaign will not only enable us to produce the highest quality product possible, but also help support the WWU student chapter of IDSA, Industrial Design Society of America. IDSA provides opportunities by putting on design events, educating students with guest speakers, and arranging job shadows with different design firms around the country.
